In today’s world many people are concerned and overwhelmed by circumstances. The enemy has saturated our society with the spirit of fear. People are fearful of economic conditions, fearful of natural disasters, and fearful of many other potential situations. 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. When we were born again we became new creations, redeemed from the curse of sin and brought into the kingdom of light. We have been adopted as sons of God and created to live in supernatural provision, health, and peace. Jesus stepped in by His grace and removed the burden of sin.
As we fellowship with the Holy Spirit in prayer our Spirit man is built up (Jude 20). A supernatural peace begins to blanket our soul. Philippians 4: 6-8- Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. In prayer we find a peace that those in the world can not understand. The source of this peace is revelation of our covenant rights and provision as a child of God. Prayer is a demonstration of utter dependency upon God. 1 Peter 5:7- Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Prayer is unfiltered communication with God. We come before Him talking with Him and receiving instructions and direction from Him. We are released from the cares that would attempt to place fear (the opposite of faith) upon us. We literally become free from the cares of the situations that we face and we are bathed in His love and grace. Also, as we fellowship with the Holy Spirit through praying in other tongues, we receive divine revelation which builds our faith and increases our level of personal peace.
Think about your dream vacation, you are free from the responsibilities that you normally carry and you simply relax on a white sandy beach while people attend to your every need. Why would you be so relaxed in that environment? Because you would be free from the normal cares and stress of life. This is the type of atmosphere that is created in your soul through prayer. You tap into a peace that is deeper than the one that comes on a vacation. The peace that comes on a vacation is connected to your natural surroundings but the peace that comes in prayer is disconnected from surroundings because it is not natural but supernatural. As your intimate walk with the Father grows you become convinced of His love and provision for you and you are released from torment. The release comes as you begin to understand that you are no longer in charge of your life but the Creator of the universe is. He has walked ahead of you and provided grace for you to overcome every trap of the enemy. In prayer, His plan becomes crystal clear and a deep abiding peace replaces fear. The type of fear that He is talking about is a fear that manifests when you feel totally responsible for yourself and you become overwhelmed by your own human insufficiency. Prayer brings you above that false sense of responsibility and into the very throne room of God.
As we navigate through the perilous times ahead, we must become a people of prayer. We must begin every day with a seeking time and end every day with thanksgiving. We need the peace of God ruling in our souls so that faith is empowered and we are able to go forward in the plans and purposes of our Father.
